A gentle couple of hours amongst the flowers
There’s something special about wandering through a flower field with a pair of snips in hand, choosing the stems that speak to you. Our Pick Your Own sessions at Birch Farm are designed to be unhurried, peaceful, and open to anyone who simply wants a couple of quiet hours surrounded by flowers.
We’re just a short drive from Manchester and Salford, but once you step into the fields it feels a world away. The air is different here, softer, calmer, and there’s space to breathe, notice, and slow down.
What to expect
We’re open between 10am and 12pm on selected days. There’s no rush and no structure — just arrive when you like within that window, wander through the beds, and pick the flowers that catch your eye.
You’ll see the true, working life of the farm: what’s growing well, what’s just beginning, what’s coming to an end. There are always inviting corners to stop, sit, and simply be.
It’s a chance to:• Spend time amongst the flowers• Notice what’s happening on the farm week by week• Pick up ideas for your own garden or cutting patch• See seasonal varieties you might not find elsewhere
And if I’m around — I’m always happy to answer questions, share tips, or chat about what’s growing.

A little extra to take home
Alongside your flowers, you can sometimes pick up small extras: a handful of saved seeds, or a potted seedling from the nursery benches. Little things to grow at home.
Who it’s for
People come on their own for a peaceful morning, with friends for something gentle to do together, or with family members who simply enjoy being outside.
It’s for anyone who loves flowers, from those who enjoy wandering slowly through the beds, noticing what’s in bloom, to those who take real pleasure in arranging seasonal stems at home. Each session gives you plenty to create two or three vases, so you can bring that calm, seasonal beauty indoors.
It’s informal, relaxed, and welcoming, come as you are, wander at your own pace, and enjoy the space.

A small escape into nature
These sessions aren’t about perfection. They’re about noticing the bees, enjoying the open views, watching the flowers move in the breeze, and choosing the stems that make you smile.
You leave with a bunch of seasonal flowers and the calm that comes from spending time amongst them, the kind of morning that stays with you long after you’ve gone home.
